Front-End engineer and Front-End Operations Engineer

I am a senior frontend engineer working at FALCON. I know quite a lot about optimizing web pages for fast load times and building rich internet applications in javascript.

I've never really gotten around to making this page pretty. Untill then, content is king! Take a look around.

Things I believe about frontend development

• Web performance matters. Not just a little.
• Exceptional performance requires the touch of an expert. Good performance can be acheived by automation.
• Development code ≠ Production code
• Transforming development code into production code should be a single step process automated by a build system
• We need to start writing modular code and css
• We need a dependency system for JS, CSS and other assets
• We need a central code repository hooed into a dependency system, like npm
• Monolithic libraries will die
• Custom built libraries based on modularity and automated dependency inclusion will win
• Build systems should hook into the implicit dependencies in the code, not base builds on directory structure, manifest files or similar clutches
• Automation reduces your probability of error over time

Projects I am involved in

• Buildfu - A collection of binaries to solve some common but extremely tedious daily tasks of a web developer.

• Histogram - A javascript library to get histogram data from an image.

• Livestyle - A javascript client and node binary that give you live css updates during development.

• One-color.js - A javascript color library. See the slides or watch the video of my presentation of it.

• Assetgraph - A DOM-based build system toolkit written in NodeJS.

• Assetgraph-builder - A DOM-based build system for single page web applications.

• Colorcat - A silly demo of one-color.js using the CSS3 nyan cat demo by Michal Budzynski

• RevyTeX - A script environment around the LaTeX environment used by the students revue at the computer science institute at the Copenhagen university (DIKU), where I have been coordinator, written amterial and instructing for several years.

• LSB improvement - This is a Chrome userscript to improve the layout of the Lån & Spar web banking solution.

• Ext JS 4 - A patch development branch I created because I didn't like the limited interaction in the Sencha forums. Current patches developed:

  • A patch for making the data module in ExtJS work with denormalized databases
  • A patch changing the selection model to no longer fire selectionchange events twice and fixing multiselection mode to work with shift/ctrl-clicking

• My public playground - Sadly I lost a lot of the experiments I have done through the years to a bad disk crash recently.
